Do authors agree with everything their characters say or do? No, of course not. Anyone who is claiming so is disingenuous or ignorant. However, people who claim that authors views don't come through in their writing are also missing something. 

There were moments of this film I greatly enjoyed and had me questioning my feelings towards the movie. Then characters would open their mouths, and I found my dislike waiting for me.

Does listening to an audiobook count as reading? I am going to attempt something that the internet doesn't like and give a nuanced answer.
